Welcome to this pre-application community consultation for our Meenakeeran wind farm and battery energy storage system (BESS) proposal. The consultation contains important information about our plans, including visual material to show what the wind farm may look like from key viewpoints in the surrounding area.

This is part of an on-going consultation process being carried out by ABO Energy NI with members of the local community and other interested parties to inform the submission of a planning application at the site. If you have any queries about our proposal, please approach a member of the Team who will be happy to help or contact us using the details provided. Please note: Any comments made to ABO Energy NI and/or the project team during this pre-application community consultation process are not representations to the planning authority. If a formal planning application is submitted, local advertisement and neighbour notification will take place and there will be an opportunity to make representations to the planning authority at that time.

Who is ABO Energy NI?

Experience

ABO Energy NI has been active in Northern Ireland since 2010. With a team of almost 20 renewable energy professionals based at our office in Lisburn, Co. Antrim, we have achieved planning approval for several projects including 100 MW of onshore wind farms and over 400 MW of battery energy storage schemes. We are now also progressing new solar projects and have planning approval for a green hydrogen production facility. Our wind farm projects provide direct benefits to the local economy and include community benefit funds which help support local charities and organisations across Northern Ireland.

Expertise

Our team has expertise covering all phases of wind farm development, from site selection and land acquisition to assessing the specific wind yield for a project, technical wind farm design, planning and environmental impact assessment, financing, construction, operational management and maintenance. ABO Energy NI is part of ABO Energy, which was founded in 1996 in Germany and is now active in 16 countries and 4 continents. This means we bring global expertise and local knowledge to all our projects.

Consultation

ABO Energy NI recognises the importance of neighbours and the local community around a wind farm site. Our wind farm would become part of the local environment for 35 years, so we design our projects to ensure minimal environmental and visual impacts as well as manage construction to cause the least inconvenience for local people. It is important to us that communities surrounding the site are involved in the development process, so feedback can be taken onboard. As such, we welcome your views on our proposal.
